Hello everyone,

On the Earth Day 2012 I'd like to share a photo of brown bear (Ursus arctos), done in the zoo of Budapest, what we visited with my sons exactly a year ago (on Earth Day 2011). Probably something very unusual from me - but a zoo photo, even without visible fences and such, always symbolizes our task: protecting nature and its creations as much as possible. Due to this + because it was shot on last year Earth Day, I choose this image to post.

Photo: done in the zoo of Budapest, through glass, in shutter priority mode. PP: moderate cropping, level adjustment, white balance correction, simple frame, re-sizing, slight noise reduction, selective sharpening (with minimal dose) on the bear's face.

Thanks for looking and commenting.

Hello László.
It is never easy to shoot though glass and fences when you are at the zoo. You have eliminated most of those rendering fine image in the frame. Good memory from a year ago and may you have a wonderful Earth Day with your family. Your contribution in protecting nature specimen is appreciated.

Hi Laszlo.
I see conditions for beer in your Zoo are decent and you have reflected its atmosphere very well. I like 3D-effect. All scene has three-dimensional look. Play of sun lights and shadows decorates the scene excellently too. It is clear eye-contact ie very touching. My kind regards and TFS.

Szia László,
Egy szépen bekomponált,beexponált,színekben helyes,részletgazdag felvétel erről a nagyvadról.Kár,hogy nem a természet ölén készült valahól.

Ciao Laszlo, great portrait of beautiful beer, wonderful light and splendid sharpness, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hello Laszlo,
fine capture of this Brown Bear with a well chosen POV and fine composition. I also like the natural colours and your informative note.
Best wishes,

Hi Wladek,
interesting shot of this bear. On Saturday we are going to Bieszczady, the widest part of Karpaty in Polans. I hope, we won't meet such a bears :)
Best regards,

Hello Laszlo,
This is a very nice image with the brown bear. I personal do not like animals in captivity.....and especially great mammals like the bear who needs large open spaces to live.....But I understand your point of view and as I see the condition are very good not like in my country in some locations where the environment are very hostile and unfriendly for this superb animals. There are some organized foundation who tried to protect in sanctuary this lovely creatures but they have financial problems and the help is pore.
The clarity and sharpness of this image is great.
Thanks for sharing!

Hello Laszlo,
A very interesting image you have posted on Earth Day. The look on the bears face seems to have a pleading appearance, as if crying out to mankind to help them survive for future generations to enjoy.
I can vividly remember growing up and hearing Ringnecked Pheasant and Bobwhite Quail almost daily in the fields behind our home. Today the fields are completely silent of these beautiful birds due to habitat loss and pesticides.

Ciao Laszlo. Intrigant blade of light to hit the animal taken in so good details and sharp. Impressive DOF. Best compliments MF.

Laszio, this is a great capture of this brown bear. I like the sharpness and POV. Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hi Laszlo,

The bear is well placed in the frame. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the brown bear. It is clear and precise. The good luminosity is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.
