[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I stumbled on this old log in Iceland. It didnīt serve itīs purpose anymore as a part of a fence around a yard. It was somehow sunken completely through the ground and the end stood out through a hole in the ground with some other plants growing in it and around it. The roots of the grass above it can be seen hanging down from the top of the photo.

Hi Linda,
Welcome to TrekNature. Your first shot is really artistic. I like it! Very good composition.

For some reason it brings to mind a book I received while working briefly for a land surveyor. The book was on identifying dead woods. Witness trees are often used to reference land corners. The trees eventually die and it can be important to properly identify the type of tree even after it has died and decayed some to verify a corner is the one documented in the plat.
