[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi friends,

A few months ago I posted an image of the species Dead Moll's Fingers (Xylaria longipes Nitschke). However, after further investigation I have to admit there was another Xylaria species, namely X. polymorpha (common English name Dead Man's Fingers), on that picture. Excuse me for the misidentification, I updated the note of that photo. Please click there for links of both Xylaria longipes and X. polymorpha.

This photo was taken yesterday, also in the Glenbower Woods near Killeagh village (like the other one), however, the exact location was different (see maps posted to both images if interested). I used ISO 200, f/5.6 and 1/15 sec. shutter speed in manual exposure mode + monopod. White balance: day white. PP: just re-sizing and slight re-sharpening.

Thanks for looking. This photo REALLY shows Xylaria longipes. ☺

Hello Laszlo,
Amazing details and exceptional clarity of this interesting specie. I like the English name for this specie...very close to reality...
Marius.

Hi Laszlo,
nice presentation of those amazing creatures of rare fungi, looking very unusual, and quite funny, too.
Thank you! With friendly regards,
Peter
