[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Dear Trekkers,

This butterfly, the Small Tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae) is known by all of you, because it's common almost everywhere in the temperate Eurasia, often featured here on TrekNature, too. But for me this photo is like a dream coming true: I never before managed to capture this species, although I've seen lots of specimens. This one was sitting on the roadside, and was quietly waiting for me to do some shots.

Photo: done near Cork City, on the shore of Curragheen river, at 19.30 GMT, in shutter priority mode. PP: moderate cropping, adjusting levels, white balance and color saturation, after re-sizing slight sharpening selectively.

Hello László,
Nice photo in beautiful saturated colours and excellent sharpness. The shadow is a nice bonus. Attractive diagonal composition.
Regards,
Peter

Hi Laszlo, very nice capture of the aglais urticae in a classic pose looking for the warm ray of sun,one of first butterflies that appears in my country at the end of winter. The pic is not the best for me,the butterfy is very dark, also if were difficult to work on this clear background.I made you a WS,i hope you will like it.Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hi Laszlo,
hehe a bit by bit and here you are with us "crazy" butterflies fans :)
You made an excellent composition, very artistic photo,
colors do seem a bit unnatural and it was difficult get all the details on the wings visible !
But I like the photo very much I looking forward to your new photos of butterflies !

Hi Laszlo.
I like this beautiful species a lot. I often meet it around my garden but cannot take many shots of the butterflies due to their mobility. You pictured it on a substrate, which they often select for resting. Shadows from the butterfly underlines the beautifulness of the butterfly. It seems to me level of contrast is high a bit and I like WS too. My greetings and TFS.
Alexei.

Hello László.

Congratulation for this interesting post. I understand that you have be very patient before to be able to "catch" it in your numeric box.

Nice point of view showing us all the wings and the body of the butterfly. Good composition of the capture. Sharpness and depth of field properly managed.

See you later.

Philippe

Hello László

Beautiful photo of this butterfly with its shadow,
fine POV, and the way almost diagonally it is framed
it gives dynamism to the image, TFS
