[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi Trekkers,

Thank you very much for your worthy comments on my previous post. This time I'd like to share, in the name of the TN motto ("learning from nature through photography"), something extraordinary. The conifer Wollemia nobilis from the family Araucariaceae was discovered in 1994 in NSW, Australia, being the 2nd gymnosperm genus known from fossils first, but found later in the present as living specimens. Seems this species loves the mild climate of South-Western Ireland, there are specimens in both arboreta in Cork county (Fota and Blarney), surviving the winters without any protections at all.

Photo was taken in the Fota Arboretum, with using flash and shutter priority exposure mode. PP: moderate cropping, slight level and color adjustment, after re-sizing selective sharpening on the branch and the needles. On the workshop photo you can see (almost) the whole plant.

Hello Laszlo,
A nice shot of this (living fossil) plant. Your use of flash allows us to view the leaves unique features in fine detail. The leaves actually remind me of fern fronds, as they don't have the usual leaf appearance.
I like the framing and color although the exposure looks just a tad light on the left side of the leaf, probably due to the angle of light from your flash.
I always find it interesting when they find plants or animals living today which had always been thought to be extinct. This is an example of such a find from 1994. Love your WS image as it shows the entire tree. TFS.

Ps. I tried a WS, to see if I could reduce the exposure a little. Not sure if it actually helps or hinders the overall appearance.

Excellent close-up of a part of this plant but after viewing the WS
photo with the whole plant I like much more the one in the WS
because of the POV, the appropriate vertical framing and also
the framing being tight, with great contrast of the color tones, TFS
