Meanwhile the continental Europe's suffering from exceptional heat waves at this moment, I have to say this is my 3rd summer in Ireland, and without doubt the worst, coolest and the most wet. Temperature was not even more than 20 Celsius - although we're already at the end of July! For sure speaking about "global warming" seems funny here, this is nothing just a meaningless phrase for those who experience the Irish weather day by day.

Species info: Speckled Wood (Pararge aegeria), quite common species on the pages of TrekNature.

Photo: taken in Ballincollig Regional Park, in a warm and sunny September day. Shutter priority exposure mode, macro converter lens.

Thanks for looking - and may the real summer come to the Emerald Isle as well!

Hi Laszlo, you were lucky to be in Ireland druring this fresh summer!! In Italy is still very very hot and with a very high humidity, typical of the north....impossible to live,to work and..to go in the fields to take butterflies pics....ehehe...interesting note about the waether and interesting post too about this specie very common in my country, the pic is not the best, grained and a bit dark, maybe you cut a lot the original shot...but no problem....you're the king of mushrooms and not of butterflies...ehhee..have a nice and fresh week,Luciano

Come to India to have a taste of summer, Laszlo. It's terribly hot and humid here during monsoons.
Lovely picture of this Wood with its wings open.
The light is just right here to give a perfect view of the colours and markings on the wings.
Thanks.
Ram
