Dear Trekkers,

Excuse me for my absence from the site, I moved to a new house where I still don't have internet access, unfortunately. I'm even posting from the canteen of my employer now, just before starting to work. :-)

I photographed this species, Hygrocybe nigrescens (Qul.) Khner or something very closed, in the garden of my new house in Macroom, but this wasn't the first occasion we met. This species seems rather common in Ireland in lawns and fields. Blackening when aged or bruised, that's why you can see very different cap colors.

Photo: taken in shutter priority exposure mode with usual post-procession (adjusting the levels, selective sharpening on the caps after re-sizing to the TN standard).

As soon as I'll have access to the internet at home, I return to TN with full energy. 'Til then, I hope you'll like this image, which is also a special gift to my lovely wife who has a birthday today.

Thanks, kind regards, Lszl

Hello Laszlo,
First of all be sure to wish your wife a Happy Birthday from Rosie and I!!
This is a new mushroom for me as I have never seen any here in Ohio that looks similar. The colors seem to vary quite a bit with age as we can clearly see. Nicely photographed and showing vivid colors and very good detail. I like the low POV you chose.
To be honest with you the stems resemble my rhubarb when it gets overly ripe.

Hello Lazlo

I wish a soon come back to TN. Beautiful image of these mushrooms, nice management of light, excellent sharpness and details.

Hello Laszlo,
This mushroom has beautiful colors. Great shot in natural setting. Very well done. JC
