Hi friends,

I didn't post any fungi from ages, so it's time to do so now. Beech woodwart (Hypoxylon fragiforme (Pers.) J. Kickx) is a very common ascomycete (from the class Pyrenomycetes) in the Northern hemisphere, literally it's widespread and abundant everywhere where its host (beech - Fagus sp.) is growing. Sometimes this pyrenomyceta can be found on other hosts, but 99% of the records are from beech. Although the species is very common, was previously lacking from my gallery.

Photo was made yesterday in the Rostellan Forest, with ISO 250, f/5.6 and 1/6 sec. shutter speed, handheld. PP: level adjustment, re-sharpening after re-sized to the TN standard.

Thanks for looking (the image and also my themes Ascomycetes and Ascomycetes 2., the photo is added to the latter one).

Hello Laszlo,
Nice to see this art of Beech Woodart Fungi which I haven't seen before, if I'm not wrong. Excellent details and colors. But I like to see this picture upside down 😀, not looking bad.
Thanks for sharing,
Regards and have a nice weekend,
Srikumar

Hello Laszlo,
It really looks upside down. Excellent sharpness despite the handheld camera. beautiful natural colors. Fine DOF.
