Lough Leane (Lake of Learning) is the third lake in Killarney's Long Range.

This shot was a very hurried one as I was at another location set up for the sunset but low laying cloud prevailed and I packed up and left. On driving back to my campsite the sky cleared giving this lovely tone on the horizon so I jumped out at a very awkward part of the road and through hooting horns from motorists and ( also from my angry wife) I captured a few shots hand held. I have to say composition was rushed on this one.

Hello Stephen,
Interesting sunset, with an unusual strong foreground interest... Which I by the way think works very well here!
Well composed and some lovely reflections, colours are very moody and enhances the feeling this was a perfect day...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Stephen
WOW, definitively one of the better sunsets I've seen for a while. I just love the serene mood and impact this posting conveys. Part of it can be attributed to the smooth water surface giving amazing reflections and play of colours.
The composition is excellent and the detail caught in the foreground makes for this shot to be more than just a sunset photo, but it is also a landscape photo in its full context. The colours are stunning and very beautiful, while the details are razor sharp and this is what impressed me the most. The fact that the aperture was set to f/4.5 yet you achieved excellent focus from the FG right along to the far away clouds up in the sky in the distant BG. The exposure (obviously) was managed quite brilliantly.
Very well done with this marvellous piece of work and TFS.
Regards
Loot

This is a rushed composition! The composition looks great to me. Lovely soft colours. Great light and POV. I want to be there.

Wow, not only do you have an eye, Stephen, and can compose such a beautiful shot in a hurry, but you can handhold with this level of clarity for 1/10 of a second! I think I need to incorporate some new exercises in my workout routine -- 1 second compositions and 1/10 second handhelds!

Hi Stephen,
You would nevner know it was a hurried shot. It looks superb. Nice sharp detail for that shutter speed hand held. I think the comp. and framing look excellent. Very well done!

Hi Steve,
Looks like you've been busy over the weekend :-) Beautiful shot, I'm, learning a lot from looking at your work. For a rushed shot, handheld at 1/10, unbelievable result! Great use of the filter too bringing the grad down to the shoreline. Beautiful details and exposure as always, looks well worth a few upset motorists :-)
Cheers,
Adrian

Well, you did it again...with that amazing lens (and your eye for composition). I hope your wife appreciates that this shot was worth the aggravation. Super!
