Anacamptis papilionacea
 |
|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Many orchids from temperate to tropical regions are called butterfly orchids because of a resemblance, fanciful or otherwise, to butterflies. Anacamptis papilionacea (formerly Orchis) flowers in vast numbers in Gargano and dense populations can give a reddish-brown tint to the landscape
Throughout the Mediterranean region.
Frequent in garigue, scrub, olive groves etc. |

Hello ANita and Mike,
Wow, I've never seen this wonderful Orchid but it's really good to see it here on your brilliant capture! It is really striking in its lovely combination of wine colour and pink and details are very sharp. A lovely bunch together too and well composed.
Many thanks and best wishes, Ulla
