[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Marius told me, commenting on my last photo, that he preferred the lateral POV of this species, which best shows the beauty of its wings, so I thought I'd please him.
Class: Insecta
Order: Lepidoptera
Family: Nymphalidae
Subfamily: Nymphalinae
Genus: Melitaea
Species: M. didyma
The Spotted Fritillary (Melitaea didyma) is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is found primarily in Southern and Central Europe.
The wingspan is 35-50 mm. The butterfly flies from April to September depending on the location.
The larvae feed on various plants, including Linaria, Plantago lanceolata, Veronica, Centaurea jacea and Digitalis purpurea.
Descrizione

Hello Luciano,
Thanks for this dedication. Of course it is an image just as successful as the first one.
I like this species because it has particularly contrasting colors and exquisite nuances.
Thanks for sharing....
Marius.

Bonjour Luciano,
