With the arrival of autumn and low temperatures, the butterflies are a bit more friendly and fussy, it becomes much easier to make friends.

Class: Insecta
Order: Lepidoptera
Family: Nymphalidae
Subfamily: Nymphalinae
Genus: Melitaea
Species: M. didyma

The Spotted Fritillary (Melitaea didyma) is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is found primarily in Southern and Central Europe.
The wingspan is 35-50 mm. The butterfly flies from April to September depending on the location.
The larvae feed on various plants, including Linaria, Plantago lanceolata, Veronica, Centaurea jacea and Digitalis purpurea.

Hello Luciano,
I see you have a new friend these days and a beautiful one at that:) Appears to be in perfect condition for this time of the year with lovely markings and bright colors. The antenna are a tad bit soft, but otherwise tac sharp. Have a great weekend!

Hello Luciano,
Indeed friendly and nice too....Lovely spots under the wings (not in this image) which I like always to shot because of the nice contrast between the colors. It is a great luck that I meet this lovely specie also in my region.

Ciao Luciano
