Zygaena oxytropis Boisduval, 1828

Z. oxytropis is an Italian vicariant of Z. rhadamanthus.
Z. rhadamanthus occurs in southern Portugal, Spain, southern France north to Valence, the French and the westernmost part of the Italian Riviera.
Z. oxytropis is endemic of Italy and occurs in the whole peninsula (except the Padovian plains and the Alps) and in Sicily.
The two species have similar black edging to the forewing spots.
Z. oxytropis has the black edging of forewing spots 2-5 less pronounced, spot 5 is usually strongly connected to 6 and cingulated specimens do not occur.

I have already showed and given other informations about this species here.

Beautiful image, Marcello.
I wonder if flash has been used here? I guess it must be natural light. I'm not sure though.
Well done

Ciao Marcello,
oxytropis belongs to my favourite Zygaena-species. It is nicely shown on your picture.
Light and colour composition are great. Sharpness is perfect.
Best wishes, Peter

Hi Marcello,
Excellent detail on the wings of this Zygaenid, fine composition. Thnaks.

Hello Marcello,
Very nice capture.I liked vivid colors,POV,framing and composition a lot.TFS

Buena luz.
Si no hay novedades en Marzo iré a Torino a visitar a mi hijo jeje.
Un abrazo: J. Ignasi Tejedor
