*****

Maniola jurtina (Lepidoptera, Nymphalidae: Satyrinae) / Meadow Brown

Arguably the commonest European butterfly. It flies from north Africa into southern Scandinavia. It is often abundant throughout the range and can be found in dry or damp conditions upto moderate altitudes (1500m or so) and in any variety of grassy habitats.

Omophlus lepturoides (Coleoptera, Alleculidae)

This family, often regarded as a subfamily of Tenebrionidae, has 33 species in central Europe. In Italy 60 species of Alleculidae are known. The larvae of some of them inhabit soil, whereas the larvae of the others live in rotten wood. Adults visit flowers, or may be collected under bark or upon the trunks of trees.

ciao Marcello,

Ciao Marcello
What a great capture of this mating couple! The light is so good and so perfect the exposure and the focus that it shows magnificent sharp details and beautiful natural colors. The DOF is also splendid showing a beautiful bg with that imponent peak.
