[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a small wheevil (family: Curculionidae) which I found resting on a rock in the upper Martell-Valley at about 2600m. Its body length is about 12 mm. Up to now, I failed to identify it on the species level. But it probably belongs to the species rich genus Otiorhynchus which includes about 170 species only in middle Europe.

On this windy day, it was difficult to take pictures of butterflies. So, this beetle was a suitable object. Light was rather comfortable and so I tried a close close-up of the specimen.

Location: Open alpine steep and flower-rich meadows facing the famous Monte Cevedale (3769 m) with its decreasing but still large and impressive ice masses.

Great shot. Perfect of sharpness all the details are perfect to see.
It looks almost like a black and white picture but bu the fine color tones which you can see in it makes it a very pleasurable picture to look at.

Very good macro, great colors and details!

Such a beautiful lateral "portrait" of a lovely curculionid from the best possible vantage point Peter, the well exposed sharp image provides us with a great amount of structural details and natural colours. TFS this fine image of a "lilliput" giant my friend.

Hallo Peter,
er ist ganz wunderbar dargestellt, der kleine Rüssler. Und er hat diese Körperhaltung, die eine bevorstehende Tat anzeigt. Tolle Tiefenschärfe und Schärfe überhaupt. Borsten und Schuppen, jedes Detail ist interessant.

Ich versuchte, einen Beitrag zur Bestimmung zu liefern, umsonst. Es kommen verschiedene Gattungen in Frage. Mein Versuch war mit www.koleopterologie.de. Dein Klasse- Bild verdient es, dass eine ID gefunden wird.
