[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Carabidae are insects belonging to the order Coleoptera, present in all terrestrial environments, and spread throughout the world. More than 20,000 species are known only in Italy, and they include more than thirteen hundred.
Can be found everywhere: in the woods, meadows, near water, in the driest areas, in towns, mountains and plains. They are fast and ruthless hunters, armed with sharp mandibles that have nothing to envy the "arms" of the offense of the most ferocious predators that have populated the Earth. Lead lives mostly at night and their diet is carnivorous, although there are some exceptions with diurnal habits and diets phytophagous (plant-eating).
Carabus coriaceus , one of the most European carabid large and robust, up to 42mm long, hunting at night and with its powerful mandibles prefers snails and worms
