Family: Nymphalidae

Subfamily: Nymphalinae

Genus: Melitaea

Species: M. didyma

The Spotted Fritillary (Melitaea didyma) is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is found primarily in Southern and Central Europe.
The wingspan is 35-50 mm. The butterfly flies from April to September depending on the location.
The larvae feed on various plants, including Linaria, Plantago lanceolata, Veronica, Centaurea jacea and Digitalis purpurea.

Descrizione

È tipica dell'Europa media e meridionale.

Hello Luciano,
Great close-up shot of this pretty fritillary butterfly. Like all fritillaries it has an array of distinct markings and rich colors. Nicely focused and displaying good wing detail. Exposure is right on the money, a real beauty!!

Hello Luciano,
dood capture nice butterfly,regards..

Pierre
