Saturnia (Eudia) pavoniella

Scopoli 1763

Nome Volgare: Saturnia

Famiglia: Saturnidae

Lunghezza ala anteriore mm. 40-90

Schiudono in 13-14 giorni. Sverna come pupa

Distribuzione: tutta Italia meno comune nelle isole.

Hello Silvio,
Stunning Image!!! This is my dream shot, to be able to photo one of these gorgeous moths in perfect shape like this specimen. We don't have this particular species here in Ohio that I'm aware of, but we do have the Cecropia Moth which is quite beautiful also. You have presented this lovely moth in exceptional detail and just the right amount of exposure. Impressive to say the least!!

Hi Silvio,

The tight frame is putting the butterfly in evidence. The point of view is showing the details of the Saturnia pavoniella. The qua;ity of the light is bringing out the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Pierre

Ciao Silvio,
Fantastic photo, I don't even remember if I ever saw this species on TrekNature. Beautiful moth in a rare pose (I mean rare for moths as usually they hide their lower wings with the upper), excellent sharpness, plenty of details. Absolutely eye-catching and noise-free image. Bravo!
Kind regards from Ireland, László
