[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Familie: Lycaenidae
Lycaena virgaureae (LINNAEUS, 1758)
Flight Time: June - September
Size: 30-36mm
The male Scarce Copper is a strikingly beautiful butterfly with his vivid, solid orange upperside which is very conspicuous in flight and helps to locate him as he's whizzing around! The undersides are very characteristic with the white splodges in the post-discal line. The female upperside is much duller and very spotty. Despite its name, this butterfly seems quite common in upland areas over about 1000m. Females are seen more rarely. |

Hi Rimantas.
Nice reproduction of vivid fine colouration of the butterfly and its fluffy clothes. Small white flowers around is wonderful decoration of a cute insect. Best regards and TFS.
Alexei.
