Lycaena virgaureae (LINNAEUS, 1758)
Flight Time: June - September
Size: 30-36mm
The male Scarce Copper is a strikingly beautiful butterfly with his vivid, solid orange upperside which is very conspicuous in flight. The undersides are very characteristic with the white splodges in the post-discal line. The female upperside is much duller and very spotty. Despite its name, this butterfly seems quite common in upland areas over about 1000m. Females are seen more rarely.

Hello Rimantas,
This species is very attractive for photo but in nature look out splendidly especially when you see a few of them. You managed to take shot with perfect sharpness, nicely spread wings.

Hello Rimantas,
you focused well on the body axis of the butterfly and achieved a great depth of field.
The briliant colour of virgaureae is nicely reproduced and contrasts well against the background.
Best wishes, Peter
