[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi Friends,
Again another posting of a shot I took back home during my field-break. This time I believe it is a mature stink bug. Also known as shield bugs, these are common names applied to various insects of the Hemiptera order (the "true bugs"), in the Heteroptera suborder. Shield bugs have glands in their thorax between the first and second pair of legs which produce a foul smelling liquid. This liquid is used defensively to deter potential predators and is sometimes released when the bugs are handled carelessly.
Shot was taken in good daylight with the camera mounted on my tripod, but with only one leg extended. Used fill flash to compensate for the narrow aperture setting which I have found is necessary to obtain results with the Raynox. WB was set on 'sunlight' because I believe auto WB tends to diminish colour tones [please correct me if I'm wrong].
Thanks for watching and best regards to all.
Mark

Hello Mark,
a beautiful frontal view of the bug. The colour contrast between bug and flower is nice, but this is not alone your merit**. However, you selected just this superb point of view and achieved a pretty good composition.
Best wishes, Peter
** Sometimes it appears that pictures are rewarded because the objects are very colourful not because the picture itself is of acceptable quality.

Hello Mark,
this is a most powerful and iconical frontal view!
Perfect result from a daring approach, excellent details, glorious colours, and great rhythm of composition.
A marvellous stage for a cute little stink bug.
Thank you! Best regards,
Peter

Hello Mark,
I like this face to face picture. Seem that this stink bug is cautious about your approach. POV, DOF, exposure, and sharpness are great. Crisp clear with nice colors. Good technique in setting WB - a new knowledge for me.

Superb point of view to capture the frontal view of this green bug, Mark. The capture is in near-perfect geometrical shape, and I like it very very much :-)!
Besides, the image is excellent in terms of sharpness, colours and overall composition.
Thanks, my friend, and take care.

Really a great shot here. The sharpness and clarity is very good. You can also see the simple eyes of the bug and also i like the contrast. These leaves really made the insect stand out.

PS you should really get yourself a monopod ;)

Thanks Mark
