She loves that, which we as unpleasant and very dirty appear - Excremental of each kind. Above all cowshit she makes love and put her eggs in it. And that is our luck, because the larvae nourish themselves of the vegetable and bacterial contents materials of the dung and contribute so to rapider composition and training into the soil also. There would not be such creatures like it, and then the earth would be already suffocated before very long time in the eliminations on their existing organism. With their very sensitive sense of smell, the muck fly seeks out very rapidly a juicy fresh cowshit. And strengthened and then the mating ritual can begin. The male begins with the honeymoon flight, into that the bent female immediately with enters. The actual mating takes place then in the grass. After the mating the male accompanies the female to the ovi position at the cowshit, where it watches out very careful for it, that no other male comes too close to it. At the put down the eggs are the wing-like projections; those from the dung stand out and most likely for it ensure, that the eggs do not continue to sink. The larvae develop very rapidly, and also emergency does, because the cowshit drains depending upon weather conditions fast and becomes then hard. The pupating and hibernation take place in the soil.

yes this one was my first trying today with my new camera. Okee it was a trying because the light was not very good in this one. This young shitfly was sitting on a daisy. I tell this that you have an idea from his large here. I promess you that There come better ones. I hope you like it.

Very nice for a shitfly ;-)!
The focus is perhaps a little soft, but the composition is really good, with an efficient DOF, and well satured colours.
I didn't have the occasion to say it before, but it's a great pleasure to have you back on TN.
You were one of my favourite poster on TE, you guide me on TN, and I'll never thanks you enough.
I'll wait for your next posts.
Thanks for sharing (and be there, among us).

Hi Jaap
A very good picture, a sligt regret that the DOF is shifted a little bit to the front so that the head of the fly is a bit soft. But composition and light saves it. BTW, Scatophaga is also a predator and often captures other insects to suck them dry...
Good job, we'll watch this space.

Hello Jaap, lovely composition and colours, perhaps a little soft in focus but not too bad. It's a nice colourful shot and a nice note. Well done.

Jaap, I guess there's a little mistake here: if this is your first attempt with you new camera, then the data above are not correct; after all, it's written Fujifilm Finepix S7000 - the same you used in other shots.

So, let me ask you: is this your first shot with the Pro 1?

As for the photo, I like composition and colors. Pov is nice too. Very good first try.

Jaap, Great composition and colors..I thought it a bit strange that I was just out yesterday shooting this same fly on this same white daisy!!! Wierd. Great job.

Very nice macro Jaap
Very good composition, DOF and great colours.
Great note like always.
Very well done, my friend.

Goedemorgen Jaap,
Groeten,
John.

Nice capture Jaap,
Nice composition, details, colours and wing detail. As has already been mentioned the focus is a touch to soft.

Hi Japp. I look forward to see more shoots as nice as this one. More light will give you a better focus, I think.
Enjoy yourself with your new toy!
Thanks for the picture and the complete note.

For the first one it's a succes!! very nice photo.
I see that you have a new camera. I have got the same but I find it very complicated.
Can you tell me what adjusments on your pro 1 you use for the macro shot? Thanks in advance.
