[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In the Netherlands live 70 types of dragonflies. The order dragon flies is generally divided in two ranges dragonflies (Zygoptera) and real dragonflies, or glaziers (Anisoptera) this is by far most important. The name glazier descends from the time that people, who had replace broken squares in former days; the pieces transported glass on a frame of slattern, so that it was then carried with on the back. This frame stuck out on side, as two terrible wings.

This is the flat belly libellula depressa it a female.
The larvae lives approximately two years in the mud.
They are about 65-75 mm long.
It lives about 2 year as a larvae
The male, are is in reality light blue.
The female have still that splendid yellow spot on the untherbody.

They live by well-vegetated still water including garden and farm ponds. Adults fly from mid May to early August. The larvae can survive long in mud, if no more water stands there in the ponds. When we see thee first chasers we know that the summer is coming.

Over the photo well this one I took during a fish trip. I saw her and I must have her in the photo. So I chase behind her and I could make some shots. This is one of them. The distance is about 16 cm. You must do it sneaky otherwise she is gone. I hope you like her too.

Zou dit werkelijk nog beter kunnen met uw nieuwe camera Jaap? Ik hoop het werkelijk voor u, maar dit betwijfel ik, dit is zo mooi en scherp, de lat hoger leggen misschien, maar hoe!!!
Proficiat Jaap

Jaap, another very nice macro by you.

Excellent composition and sharpness. The bg is great too.

Hello from Canada, Jaap! We have been following the Liberation ceremonies from the Netherlands all week, and are proud that our peoples remember these important events! This is an incredible photo, it is fabulous that you were able to get in so close. The clarity is exceptional, and look at the size of those eyes! Very interesting notes. I love the little fuzzy hairs on her thorax. Great shot! Thanks, Linda

I just found your shot while looking for the ID of a dragonfly shot this morning. It confirms it's same species, also female. Will post later. You came really close here (I couldn't), hence this beautiful macro plenty of details. Useful notes too. You also did very well with the S7000.
Goede Zondag
