Some hover-flies are beautiful of colour and often find it on plants with a lot of little flowers. Those little flowers have nectar as it where on flower lie, so that he by a glide can licks it up, with its short tongue. It is a delicacy for glides. The foods of glides exist from nectar and pollen. It is a pollen insect, this means that he can transmit, pollen and nectar, on same flower, and on another flower. As a result, these flowers are fertilised. She cannot pricks, because she has no sting. To glide plants it self by lying eggs. They laying the eggs in things such as mud, fattens, liquid manure and in corpses of large animals and shit. After a period of some days there Maggot’s arise from the eggs. The maggot of this hover-fly, also called rat tail, live in wet substance and with a little trunk they take breathe, to surface. There are rather what types of insects which are compared, with bees but if you have a good look, you will see the difference very well, however. There is a large difference between a bee and a hover-fly, in the way of life.

Yes I like good macro shots. I look, I come closer, and I click, looking for a good composition, for a good light, for a good photo. I hope you like this one.

What a beautifull hover-fly you show here, Jaap. I think it is the greatest top-view macro on a hover-fly I see on TN.
Thanks a lot.

Great macro Jaap.
I like the shimmer on the wings.
Very good POV, composition, details and colours.
Great work.

wow..wonderful colours.
Great picture. very sharp.
great work

Jaap, Nice details with great color contrast..At F 4/5 you've blurred the flower & the BG isolating the subject, making it stand-out well. These little guys are hard to capture. Great job!!

Great shot you have done. These colors are superb. I was surprised to see this insect, but I saw the date (2004-10)
Now in our region insects are becoming actives, so I took several photos from the same type of insect.

Excellent macro.
Was this taken using natural lighting or did you use a flash?

You did take very good advantage of the amazing light over this one. Only the tip of the wings slightly scape from DOF but nothig serious. Love the colours, detail & composition.
You always post the macros I would like to take! Very good work.

An incredible shot, Jaap. Your DOF has made the insect virtually 3-dimensional. Amazing clarity and colours. Very well done.

Jaap, fantastic colors and POV. Very beautiful picture with very good contrast in colors. Brilliant photo, and I like the reflection on the wings too.

The detail on this is great, the iridescent quality of the wings is wonderful. I love the purple flower as background. I love the contrast of the blurry soft lavender color and the striking stripes on his body. Well done.
