Hi,

Today being a National holiday in Netherlands , I got time to visit a beautiful park called Keukenhof (Court's Kitchen) near Amsterdam. As we were walking around the park we saw a bird show being done and this OWL was refusing to come back to its owner even after many calls. got some opportunity to shoot it.

Being new to European birds I'm not sure whether it is a great horned owl , but looks like one.

Owls are a group of birds of prey. Most are solitary and nocturnal, with some exceptions (e.g. the Burrowing Owl). They are classified in the order Strigiformes, in which there are over 200 extant species. Owls mostly hunt small mammals, insects, and other birds, though a few species specialize in hunting fish. They are found in all regions of the Earth except Antarctica, most of Greenland, and some remote islands. Though owls are typically solitary, the literary collective noun for a group of owls is a parliament!!!

Hi Goutham,

Wonderful capture of this owl. It is very likely a Great Horned. Love his pose in the tree as if he wasn't sure of you. Lovely colors, details and a beautiful setting.

Goutham,

Nice green background. Correct exposure. Right choice for placement of the Owl in the picture.
