I take this photo on a early wintermorning in december 2006. The sun came just above the horizon and gives everything a very warm glow. Windstil and bit fuzzy. The photo is handheld made. Cropped the photo a bit. Contrast +3.

You see here the Noordvliet. This is one of the both Vlieten and is a part of the area of Nature Monuments. This is of the layer peat areas which have not settled. There is never drainage works have taken place.

There is a story about these two Vlieten. In the middle ages, there was a kind of competition between two rich and important persons. They wanted both a good connection has to Vlaardingen and Delft. They don't reached an agreement and everyone have dug their own Vliet , "The Noordervliet and Boonervliet".

In the winter when a couple of days has frozen and there is good ice, everyone goes there skating.

This is a nice capture for winter, as the feeling is warm and inviting instead of the opposite!
Some fine effects when the sunrays hit the dry grass, but the lead coloured water and sky tell the story of the season!

I love the warm colours and tones.
This has a painting like quality to it.
A lovely atmosphere.
The placid water has such beautiful reflections.
I like how there is a little opening that leads the eye and the imagination through it.

Hoi Bob,
Op een donkere dag als vandaag is deze plaat alleen maar mooier. De warme kleuren van de ochtend zon op het drooge riet geven deze koude winterdag een zeer warm gevoel.
Ik vind vooral het mistige effect in de verte erg mooi. Het geeft deze foto nog meer sfeer. De Ws van Janice is qua compositie beter.

The warm glow and the colors are fantastic! Beautiful reflections in the serene waters. I like the composition as it, but I most likely would try croping about half as much as was cropped in workshop suggestion. Such a calm and soothing photo!

Hi Bob,

The reflections in the water are assets to the composition. The point of view takes our eyes toward the trees in the background which is giving depth to the photo. The light is enhancing the colors. have a nice day.
