Phasianus colchicus
Ring-necked Pheasant
Distinguishing Features - The Ring-necked Pheasant is unlike in appearance with any other game bird in the world. The colourful male with a 40 - 45 cm long tapered tail, a rooster-like bill and spurred tarsus is a striking bird. The white ring around the neck varies in depth and is sometimes lacking.
The female Pheasant is buff coloured with dark brown markings
A native from the Ukraine, east to central Asia to Manchuria and southern China; introduced and widely established in Europe, the United States and southern Canada. It prefers farmland with fields of grain near shrub cover, woodland and marsh edges.

This photo was taken through a window of my home. I did not dare to step outside because the male was also in the garden and was on the lookout.

Bonjour Paula
Très joli cette prise de vue , les détails et les contrastes manquent un peu de claretés mais les couleurs sont très jolis . Ce faisan est envoyé avec une belle présentation.

Bravo et merci....JP

Hello Paula,
This is so strange that you have this specie in your garden; I think this is quite unusual. This is a stunning capture with good POV and composition. I think it is a little soft on focus probably due to the shutter speed you used and, as Jean-Paul said, maybe you could have add a little contrast. This is a nice post anyway of a bird that I don't see often. TFS,

Hi Paula,
For an image taken through the window of your home you have created one with good detail. The light is fairly low and with the combination of its shades of brown it has a soft mood.Looks like it was on the move!
Regards, david

Ha Paula,

schiterende foto van deze fazant

goede natuurlijke kleuren en details
Mooie compositie met een goed POV.
heb je het mannetje ook nog te pakken kunnen krijgen?

Fantastic photo, Paula! I think the flowers in front of it shows that it is a normal environment. I could not guess that this was through a window, but maybe you should apply a bit more sharpening?
