[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
There has already been taken en posted so many great pictures of this butterfly that it is nearly impossible to take a original picture. That is, in general, the difficult part in 'our' field of work. I have some ideas how to take pictures from another angle or point of view but not all species are willing to co-operate in my experiments :-)
This Speckled wood normally 'allows' side and top views, but I never managed to take pictures from another pov. Oh well, I'll keep on trying. In the meantime I post this picture from my garden taken about a month ago.

Hello Jacob,
a brilliant and very good close up of aegeria. The optimal focus on the head (+ antenna) and on the forewings brings up many nice details.
Obviously, the hindwing is broken within the area of the the discoidal cell and thus 'escapes' the focus plane.
Best wishes, Peter

Hello Jacob,
Great work with the 100 mm macro. Mine is an old one that is basically for film and it does not perform as well as this.
You portray this Speckled Wood underside with excellent sharpness, pleasing nutral BG and set in a fine compo.
TFS and have a nice weekend!

Hallo Jacob,
Mooie foto. Goeie DOF.
Leuke compo.

Hi Jacob

Another very beautiful macro shot from you, my friend!
First of all, i must say i love the parallel position between the butterfly here and you lens, giving you an exceptional POV for a profile! It's really great and it also helped you to use a shallow DOF that will blurr the BG nicely but not affect the subject all that much.
The details in your capture are fantastic and razor-sharp - especially arounf the head and eyes of this cute fellow.
The exposure is also nicely managed here and that gave you good natural colors, while the compo is just great.

Bravo and TFS

Hello Jacob,
I love this butterfly which, I'm afraid, we don't see much of down here in Scania. Very nice sharp capture and good colours in your excellent composition.
Many thanks, Ulla
