[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Gary mentioned that my first photo of this area Dwingelderveld would look great in black and white. This is a version of that area in back and white. Its a slightly different POV and composition.

I have used the map function to give you the location I was standing. Thanks to Bob on explain how to do this.

The photo was shot using my tripod and an ND8 grad fliter. It was shot in RAW. I adjusted the white balance for a slighty warmer tone and converted it to TIFF. Converted to B&W and made adjustment in both levels and curves. USM, frame, resize, conversion to 8-bit and saving to JPEG was needed to TN.

Hi Niek,
that's a beautiful view and I like it in black/white, very impressive.
It seem I can see the clouds moving, thanks and greetings

Hello Niek,
Such a amazing sky view with the B/W effect! I loved it so much, also the landscape can be clearly seen to a long distance with best pov!
job well appreciated and thank you
greeting from NZ

Hallo Niek,

Goed gedaan.

Hello Niek,
I agree that this looks better in B&W. Fine contrast and composition. The ultra-wide view really makes those clouds look spectacular. Regards,

Hi Niek,
The conversion to B&W is really great for this shot. Excellent composition and framing in the vertical format. The clouds really add alot this this scene. Nice one!

Hi Niek

I have always liked B&W shots. Removing the distraction of colour makes you concentrate of shapes and textures. The grass texture and the sky look wonderful here. Good contrast. It is a great B&W conversion

Hi Niek, great B&W with splendid sky, wonderful composition, very well done, ciao Silvio

Ah the clouds really help with the composition here Niek. Perhaps try bringing out the lower part of the sky even further with more contrast.

Hi Niek,
the thing i like best about this image is the clarity of it, the sharpness through out. Exposure seems to be just about perfect. A well balanced image.
I have been able to get out with my camera for a couple of weeks due to the bl**dy awful weather, but i'm off to Scotland tomorrow so fingers crossed...
Hope you're well,

Hello Niek,
Very good definition and tonality is impeccable too!
But... It is hard for me to find preference for B&W landscapes, unless under very special circumstances...
One good thing it is easier to focus on the fine composition!

Hi Niek.
Lovely B&W. The sky is really dramatic. Good composition. Beautifully done.
Best regards, Steve.

Hi my dear friend

I just popped in to say a word and to congratulate you on such a magnificent B&W! It's superb!

Unfortunately my internet time in now even more limited here since i moved to a different appartment that is not covered by any wireless network and so i have to travel with my laptop to different places to get access. Add to that that i'm working 6 or even 7 days a week...so i'm usually very tired and have little time.

So far things aren't going as well as i hoped, but i will do everything in my power to get that dSLR that i craved for so much time now.

Regarding your photo here, it's impeccable!
The conversion is really exceptional and the emotion it gives to the entire place is amazing.
The usage of the ND grad is also terrific and it made sure you had that extra contrast in the sky, an element very important in B&W photos from what i've seen.
Other than that, the usual: excellent sharpness, lovely wide angle perspective and a very beautiful vertical compo.

All the best ;)

Hello Niek !
Your landscapes always look fantastic ! You are able to turn the most common place into a piece of art. I love the sky, here, and I think it was a great idea to turn the picture into black/white. Composition and POV are outstanding, as usual. Very well done !
