What a splendid and vividly colored portrait! A true pleasure for my eyes!
Scarlet Macaws are really photogenic subjects, but yours here is really posing and looks absolutely amazing!
The attention you gave to every detail and texture - feather and patch of skin - is impeccable and makes this shot an even better one.
Terrific side POV and perfect DOF that keeps the entire subject in 100% focus while giving you a great blurry BG, too.
The exposure is very well managed as well and it gave you those vibrant and sublime colors and contrasts.
All-in-all: a magnificent job.

PS: i guess that due to the post-processing a little noise appeared in the BG, so i tried a small WS in order to remove it. Hope you don't mind :)

Hi Vivian,

I think this portrait is quite spectacular. Colors are marvelous and vivid - details of the face and plummage are excellent. The eye is beautiful and the texture of the feathers are wonderful.

This is truly an excellent shot! I love your composition and POV. The DOF also works well for this photograph. The colors are magnificent. The title you've chosen is cute as well. This appears to be a young scarlet macaw too. I would say maybe a year or old, he/she hasn't developed the "adult" face/look yet. I don't know how to really describe it, there is just something in their upper face, around the eyes and the way the feathers are on the head that just tell you when they're babies still. My catalina is two years old only, but he's already grown out of that look, it's sad when that 'innocent' look is gone. Truly remarkable photograph though! Nice capture!
