Hi Niek,
Nicely composed image with the golden grass fan in the FG and the curve to the BG large tree. Nice reflection and light also. This could almost pass as a Minnesota wetland.
Do you know the name of the large pine in the BG?

Some fine detail in the image there Niek. The vertical curve with added refection is an interesting approach. A Fen is a rather interesting thing. I lived on the edge of a quite famous one called Inglenook Fen in Northern California from 1979-85. You can see my house and the fen is just to the green area...all of it is well studied by folks from all over teh world..something grow here that grow nowhere else...Click Here

Hi Niek,
a superb composition, quite a dynamic foreground, full of detail and texture leading round to those great trees in the background, all perfectly exposed with excellent DOF.
This place could easily be within 3 miles of where i live you know. I have been revisiting some old favourite spots of mine recently on my time off too, and what you say about buying a map of your local are is so true. I think you would enjoy shooting in the New Forest :o) Very well done,

Hi Niek,
I really like your composition here. The vertical framing places great emphasis on the curving grassy shore line. A perfect leading line to the tree and its reflection in the water. Beautiful light and a spot on exposure.

Hello Niek,
A lovely colour palette, I guess this was a couple of days before your region was hit by the frost!
The dry straws stand out so well with the rich blue water, attrtactive curved line in the composition...
Good feeling of depth and an effective lead-in to the tree in the back!

Hoi Niek,

Dit zal u meer overkomen wanneer u nog ouder wordt, plaatsen te gaan bezoek waar u in uw jeugd goede herinneringen aan hebt overgehouden.
Dit fenomeen overkomt mijn vrij regelmatig.
Het kleine laagje ijs verdoezeld de weerspiegeling van de boom, maar wel in de positieve zin.
De oever die ons meeneemt tot ver naar de achterkant van het meer, ja Niek de wilde bloemen soorten zullen hier in de maand Mei zeker de moeite waard zijn om eens terug te gaan.

Prachtige foto Niek met fantastisch mooie heldere kleuren. Goede diepte en compositie.
Ik ken de streek niet, maar het is duidelijk een aanrader.

I totally agree with you as for the beautiful places around our homes - often you don't have to go far if you look closely, I experienced this myself many times. As for the picture, it is truly wonderful. Nice natural colors, excellent composition and POV, beautiful details throughout the whole picture, and of course the landscape is wonderful. Very well done !

Hallo Niek,

Waren de omstandigheden zo dat je zo'n lage sluitersnelheid moest gebruiken of had je hier fototechnische redenen voor? Dta llagje ijs geeft toch wel iets bijzonders aan de foto. De reflectie van die vliegden op het ijs is daardoor ook mooi. Door je goede POV wordt je via de rietkraag verder de foto in geleid. Knap gedaan. ik heb geen idee waar ik dit ven kan vinden. Soms bij jou in de buurt??? Als je de foto op de dooie gemak bekijkt kom je steeds meer tot rust. Heel ontspannend. Groeten en alvast een goed en veilig uiteinde en goed TN jaar. Bob

I really like the curve of the water line framing the the nice reflections Niek. I'm glad you discovered a new spot to photograph. I think the polarizer caused a bit of unevenness in the sky... more saturated in the center. It is not overly noticeable. I'm sensitive to it because I have so much trouble with polarizers.

The weatherman keeps warning of snow today but nothing so far. I was so hoping to find some photo ops around home.

Hi Niek,
this is a superbs shot o a landscape. Thr perspective created by the riverbanks is really breathtaking. The blueness of the water is excellent. What i like most is the pleasant inclusion of tall grass as a specil elements in the foreground.
Really lovely and a well planned shot.
