Berger's Clouded Yellow Colias alfacariensis

Rare migrant
In recent decades the Berger's Clouded Yellow has been the rarest of the three Colias species that migrate to Britain and Ireland, and it has been recorded only from England.

It was recognized as a species separate from the Pale Clouded Yellow only in 1947 and has since been identified in English butterfly collections dating back to the nineteenth century.

Although separation of the adults of the two species remains extremely difficult in the field, full-grown larvae and the choice of foodplant can greatly aid identification.

European/world range
Much of southern and central Europe northwards to Belgium, the Netherlands, and southern Germany. Extends eastwards to Turkey, but the limits are uncertain because of identification problems. The distribution in Europe is stable.

Foodplants
The only native plant used by the Berger's Clouded Yellow in Britain is Horseshoe Vetch (Hippocrepis comosa), although the naturalized Crown Vetch (Securigera varia) may be used, as it is in continental Europe.

Habitat
Breeding is generally restricted to dry, calcareous habitats where its larval foodplant, Horseshoe Vetch, grows. However, it may breed occasionally in other habitats if Crown Vetch is present.

I hope it is the right specie. I found the information
here
It is such a bad butterfly time in the netherlands that I did a look on a butterfly farm. I took a few shots there. I made some experience with the F number. I hope you like it.

It's a beauty, Jaap.
Never seen this before.
Well composed, good POV and good details.
Very well done, my friend.

The butterflies are on return now, but only peacock so far.

Excellent detail and sharpness Jaap, the DOF is spot on, as is the exposure.

This is beautiful Jaap!

I especially like the platform on which this butterfly rests. Very delicate and artistic in its nature.

Wonderful details, color, and POV.

TFS.

Jaaap!
It's amazing! just wonderful b'fly.
It's miracle of a nature!

Beautifull butterfly, I think that there was a place for more DOF in this frame, very good colours.

Gorgeous yellow color, Jaap. I haven't seen such a vibrant yellow on a butterfly. The flower perch gives it a very nice composition. Beautifully done! :-) Thanks for sharing.
