[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It has been a while since I posted a photo on TN. I moved to a new city, got a new job and needed to find new locations.

As you can imagine my time for this site and for photography in general was and actually still is limited. Fortunately, I have found this little tree rather close to my home. It is just a few minutes drive and a short walk over boggy terrain. It certainly is and will be a good subject to capture trough the season.

I've made this photo just before a period of real winter weather entered our country. I believe this was actually the first day with freezing temperatures, hence the slight frost on the grasses.

Although the day wasn't looking promising for a nice colored sky, I didn't feel like staying at home and decided about 30 minutes before sunset to go visit this spot. Just when the sun was about to touch the horizon an brief gap in the clouds gave the rest of the sky some color. My camera, tripod and filter were all ready and a quickly made this photo. Seconds later the light changed to boring and I packed up my gear, head home and made dinner.

One of the most impressive landscape images I have seen around Treknature for a long time, Niek! Fantastic exposition control, stunning natural colors with great gamut, brilliant depth of field and impeccable composition indeed! Bravo!

Hi Niek

Nice to see another post from you...it's been a while and i thought your index finger has gone missing :))
This is a lovely new location and, as you said, a superb candidate for a "trough the season" series.
I really like the composition you managed here - using perfectly the rule of thirds both on the horizontal and the vertical. The tree stands out well and balances the nice reflection of the sky from the right-hand side.
You were kindly rewarded by this brief moment when the sun peaked through and you definitely knew immediately what to do with it. The reverse grad worked superbly and i can't even see where around the horizon it was positioned.
Very beautiful work, my friend.

Cheers and TFS

Hallo Nick
This is really good. You succeeded very well to keep the atmosphere of the scenery alive. To my opinion an amazing view.
Fantastic sky and modest colours. Beautiful light, with golden reflections in the water. Very well done. Well deserved compliments. Thanks for sharing. Best regards!
Anna

Hy Niek
Do you know why I like a lot your landscapes? Because horizon line is lost in the distance, the lack of any buildings or other human activities. Something quite hard to find in Belgium.
I'm sure we will have great views from this place over the year.

Kind regards,
Oana

Ciao Niek. Great impact from this fascinating landscape.

Bonjour Niek,
Nice to see again one of your typical landscape-pictures with a lonely tree. This one, a new one, has a real interesting shape and I'm sure we will see it again through seasons. Love the fine evening atmosphere you suggest with your picture. Excellent composition like always and a subtle palette of colors.
Thanks and kind regards
Anne

Hello Niek,

Like in my location the winter seems the time to get the best display of colours, here sunrise can be great while sunset isn't very much!
Wonderful colours well reproduced, in a well balanced composition with sharp details...
The frosty dry grass tells the story of the season!

Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello Niek,
very dramatic indeed. The sky is very special and catchy giving a powerful effectto the visual.
I like the lone tree with its leafless features.
Very well composed in a different colourful landscape.

Foozi
