[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On one of my first weekends of scouting out the nature areas close to my new home, I visited a peat bog area called the Groote Peel.

Although this nature reserve is touched by humans in the past, it is now a protected area and a haven for migrating birds. It is actually partially closed throughout several months a year so to not disturb the birds. This last bit was not known by me but quickly noted after I took this photo. On my way back to the car a came upon a ranger who informed me that I was trespassing this part of the reserve during this period of the year. I was fined with a 60 euro fine.

Although I am very happy with the result of this photo, it was an expensive one. Because next to the fine, it also included a broken remote control.

superb composition, Niek!

Hello Nick,
Splendid landscape. Everything is perfect: light, focus, colors, details. Lovely composition with amazing sharpness and nice POV.
It was a little expensive foto but it worth-while.
Outstanding reflection of the clouds in the water.
Thanks for sharing!
Marius.

Hi Niek
I am sorry about your luck but thanks for the photo. You have set this up really nice with the trees and grass in foreground and the dark clouds in the back ground. Its a beutiful picture.

I wish they would protect our lands better. Ours laws protect our endangerd bird and animal species, but never the habitat in which they live. Places like this are always under the threat of development, ready to be sold to the highest bidder.

Denis.

Hello niek,
this shot is something memorable! Besides the experience you got with the ranger and your broken remote, this presentation is more than that. Excellent view with great dramatic sky and vastness of the lake. The way you composed the tree and the grass is very powerful in depicting this beautiful place.
excellent job in pleasant view.

Foozi

Hi Niek - an excellent picture postcard. Very natural and the lighting if the pic is absolutely awesome. TFS

Beautiful sharp image with wonderful depth and the colours are so well saturated. Pity about the tree on the left.

Hello Niek,
What a wonderful expanse of water - hard to believe it is from Holland! I like your POV and the lovely framing by Birch branches. The light is terrific and so are the cloud formations above the rippled water. Great DOF and beautiful colours too!
Many thanks and best regards, Ulla

Hi Niek,

Love your note!!! ..sort of... : / It's a great sharp image...but 60 euros!!!! We have an expression... "Live and Learn" Oh my! or.... "It could have been worse." You might have broken the camera/lens and/or got a crumby photo. It's a super shot of a lovely scene.... and just think... you are the only one that got to see it! hee hee : )

I love the dark ominous sky on the left and the bright hopeful clouds in the center. It must have been a very still day for such sharp foreground grasses and leaves... yet there are ripples on the water. 1/40 is not very fast.

Nice to see you posting again.

Evelynn : )

Everything is beautiful here in this photo.

Wow, I wouldn't mind paying a fine for trespassing into a prohibited nature reserve and taking a picture like that, Niek! It is just marvellous.
Everything within the frame adds value to this composition. The low angle of light lends a touch of magic to the reeds in the foreground, water at mid distance and clouds at the horizon.
I like the tinge of humour in your note.
Thanks and all the best!
Ram

Hello Niek
Beautiful photo with interesting composition and wonderful colours.

Bonjour Niek,

Hi Niek, how are you? Long time since I've seen a new shot from you, but I'm not around here much anymore. It's great to hear you've been exploring your new environment, you found this location in great light with interesting skies. You picked a good viewpoint, using the wonderfully shaped Birch well as a strong FG element and exposing perfectly the high contrast scene, I would like to see this scene with some ice and frosted grass! Corjan3's comment made me laugh ;0)
Well done on a well executed (and expensive!) shot!

Hello Niek,
I would like to say the fine was well worth the superb photo that you got, but then I didn't have to pay out the cash. I must say the the exposure is exceptional. The colors are saturated perfectly and the sharpness is spot on. Awesome image to view!!
Ron

Hellow Niek,
This image really caught my eye, just so pure and natural.Great exposure throughout and perfect depth, well done.

hello Niek

You choose a great POV with including the tree
at the foreground it is not disturbing the
view of the lake at all and it is bringing
a more appealing view to the entire scenery, TFS
