|european bison, wisent|
wisent, europese bizon
The European bison is the heaviest wild land animal in Europe, and is one of the european big fives. On average, it is slightly lighter in body mass and yet taller at the shoulder than the American bison (Bison bison).
European bisons were hunted to extinction in the wild. They have since been reintroduced from captivity into several countries in Europe. The total population is around 4,600. All of them being issued from only 6 ancestors they suffer from many genetic issues.
Do not go closer than 50m from those.
