Don't laugh, this is my kingfisher. The only one in wild I have photographed. Yes it was quick, very quick. I had a hope he would sit done, no he did not do that, So I was sitting unther that tree and every time this lovely bird flies through the tweaks. But he would not sit done. Don't laugh. But I must say I have laugh after the missing shot.
A have very nice Dutch side about the kingfisher. I hope you like it

I am sorry but I don't remember the technical details of the shot

Well, Jaap, you've got the colors right, a good exposure and a good focus. Finally, there's only the right speed missing. Speed priority, set at 1/1000 mini, a higher ISO value to compensate for lack of light (you were at f/3.2 at 1/200) would have been better to freeze the motion. But, anyhow, if the shot is missed, you certainly enjoyed a nice time in the bushes ;-) waiting for this nervous critter to keep quiet. I've added to theme.

Unlucky! Would have been a great shot. It's very frustrating when this happens. Hope you have more luck with the kingfishers this year.

Jaap, I'd be *happy* if this were my missed kingfisher ;-) All I ever got on one of ours was a blueish blur of some 50 x 50 px zooming away at high speed along the brook. At least this bird is recognizable ;-))

Ha,ha,ha, gee wiz Jaap, I think I can hear the Kingfisher laughing at ya from here! ;-) At least he let ya see his dust!! TFS!

This is aboutwhat I'm used to bringing home Jaasp. I won't laugh, I know what it's like.

Groeten,
John.

I wish I could get this close to a kingfisher. Did not have the opportunity though. This theme does help to understand everyone has the same frustration at times. Sorry you missed this guy Jaap. Did you get him later on?

Oh yes! I know this feeling - you took this photo with cam I also have got. It is painfully slow in autofocusing and most small birds' photos is suitable to trashcan :-) I tried to photograph chickadees but with no success. Great contibution to missed shot!

Jaap, compared to my one and only kingfisher shot this is excellent! Another classic near miss, it's fascinating to see some of these and how they were(n't) achieved, especially from the more advanced photographers!

Nice try Jaap - at least you got the colours right so no doubt it is a kingfisher.

Well done you caught the branches.
Very good :-))))

Very good Jaap.
I like the sharpness, details, and the pose of the kingsfisher. ;-).
This what happend very often. ;-(
Very good "Just missed shot".
Good work.

I love your branches :-) And... pity you wrote what is it ;-) I could imagine something interesting ;-))))

Hi Jaap, great branches, but you should have cloned out the blurred thing in the center :) At least you had fun, and excersize trying to get it.

Thanks for posting this one - I am glad that I am not the only one with blurred thingies in the frame.

Jaap, nice near-miss. I have lots of them. This would have been a very nice photo. A cool attempt.
