This picture was taken about 400 m E from the "Polish Polar Station", just in the middle of my expedition to Spisbergen, but today I would like to tell you something more about my "last adventure" during this polar visit :>

Last day of my polar expedition. Our ship "Oceania" stopped in Longerbyen. The next day we had a plane to Poland. All scientific plans were done, all important studies made. It was first day for some relax :>

In July-August there is a day all the time, so if you do not look at the watch you can have some problems ;>
It was about 8 p.m. when our polar team decided to leave the ship and go to Longerbyen. One of our colleagues has a small house in this city so the plan was: to celebrate our last night on Spitsbergen in this place :>
But there was one "restriction": we had to come back to the ship at 9 a.m. Really only for 1 hour to take our baggage and then go to the airport, but it was still very important to do that. We took the guitar, good humours and went there.
You can say - there is no problem! From 8 p.m to 9 a.m there is more that "a lot time" ;>

It was really nice evening, a lot of fun, singing, everyone related his "the best moments" from this expedition...

About 3 a.m. some of us decided to come back on "Oceania", but I with 3 other colleagues from Gdansk and Sopot decided to go sleep in the house, and to be in port before 9 a.m. As you can easy guess we were late :) Bad luck because our alarm-clock did not work... Of course our ship could not wait for us (there is a strict rule how many hours ships can spent in the port) so we had a problem... ;>

Fortunatelly there was a Polish yacht in the port so thanks to CB radio we asked captain from "Oceania" for some transport. After about 20 minutes a pontoon came for us. A lot of luck this time :>
But can you imagine the first words when we took the ship again? There was no "Hello!", "How are you?" or ener "Where the hell have you been so long?!". The first sentence was: "DO YOU HAVE A GUITAR??" ;>

And it such "musician" way my last day on Spitsbergen ended...

If you like please feel free to see some of my earlier photos from Hornsund fjord here and here :>

PS.This is an old scan so the quality is not perfect :>

Hi Radimor.
I am proud of Zenith and of you. Great picture by selected view and low POV, excellent colours and perfect reproduction of texture of pictured objects and state of nature. Your note as usual is perfect too. My best wishes, compliments and TFS.
Alexei.

The more rugged a landscape the more beautiful it gets, seemingly paradoxical but true. Good shot with nice lighting and compostion well done.

Hi Radomir,
Just marking, I'll be back,

Hello Radomir,
What a great time you must have had during your expedition to the Polar Station way back in 2003!
I have read your anecdotal note with great interest and found it a hilarious read. What fun!
The picture of the Polar region is truly fascinating. The split ice in the foreground makes a lovely composition with the surrounding landscape. The colours and contrasts are just beautiful.
Thanks and take care.
Ram

Hi Radomir,
A lot of music in the image:-) Could it be a guitar?
Well done

Hello Radomir,
Fantastic capture of this beautiful landscape. Great depth of focus and the low POV is amazing - I expect you were nearly in the ice-cold water!! I like those blocks of ice/snow in the foreground and the brown/blue/white colours look fabulous.
Many thanks, Ulla

Hej,
Widze, ze jednak zdecydowales sie upublicznic niektore kompromitujace epizody ;-)
Fotka jest bardzo ladna. Podoba mi sie trojdzielna kompozycja z lodem na pierwszym planie, ciemna gora na drugim i osniezonymi gorami w tle.
No i obrobka skanu poszla Ci tym razem swietnie.
Serdecznosci,
Michal

Hallo Radomir,
You have taken this landscape picture from an excellent point of view. The colours are so beautiful, the contrast between the amazing brown of the mountain and the blue of the water so beautiful. And the snow in the forground gives a great sense of depth. Magnifique.
Best regards
Anne

Hi Radomir

Very beautiful lanscape. Colors are well saturated.

Well done

Hi Radomir,
It's an excellent point of view, you got here. I like how you have the ice in front, which gives the picture a good depth. The colours are good and you have achieved a good job potraiting how isolated these islands is.

Thanks,
Christian

The photo looks pretty good to me, but the story is even better! I really gives a feeling for the place with the bareness of the landscape and the broken ice in the foreground. It has a nice composition and sharpness.

Hi Radomir!

I read and look at all what concerns Norway with great interest, because I'll be there for the first time in a couple of days...

Your picture is well composed, nice in color and shows, as far as I can judge, the Norwegian reality, and moreover in a very pleasant way.

I'll have a look at your other postings concerning Norway very soon!

Regards
Markus

Hi Radomoir,
i thought i would choose something a bit older from you for once, and you have some great landscapes to choose from! I think this is my favourite though, as i love this type of environment and you show it here so well. Well exposed and sharp throughout, i like your compsoition using the ice blocks in the foreground. Those peaks look like good fun to climb too :o)
Happy New Year my friend!
Paul
