This is probably the simplest image I have ever posted in TrekNature!

And yet so complex…

A stratocumulus cloud belongs to a class characterized by large, rounded masses, usually in groups, lines, or waves, the individual elements being larger than those in altocumuli.

Stratocumulus is in family group C, which are the low level clouds ranging up to 2000 m (6500 ft). Other clouds in this family group are stratus, nimbostratus, cumulus humilis, and cumulus mediocris.

Vast areas of subtropical and polar oceans are covered with massive sheets of stratocumuli.

Generally stratocumuli bring no precipitation or only drizzle / light rain or snow at best. However, these clouds are often seen at either the front or tail end of worse weather, so may indicate storms to come, in the form of thunderheads or gusty winds.

Stratocumuli are same in appearance to altocumuli and are often mistaken for such. A simple test to distinguish these is to compare the size of individual masses or rolls: When pointing your hand in the direction of the cloud, if the cloud is about the size of your thumb, it is altocumulus; if it is the size of your entire hand, it is stratocumulus.

Hi Pablo,
It may soud as simple image, but as rare as an extinct species here. I have to search in my memory to remember clouds of any type!
I like this stratocumulus with so many shades of grays ant its typical shapes.

Hi Pablo,
You do have the knack of turning simple things into things of delight. Stunning shot of the stratocumulus clouds with fabulous exposure and blue sky to compliment it perfectly. The formations and colours look awesome and the play of light here is just magnificent. Excellent POV to portray the scene and a superb composition. Kudos.

Wow! Amazing shot. Great contrasts. Once again, the polarizer has proven itself an amazing tool!

Simple but a beautiful composition and view. Good exposure handling and very nice colors. TFS

Hi Pablo,
It doesn't looks to me simple from any point of view. For me clouds are most difficult to capture in the manner you have captured. Excellent details, colors and composition. Thanks a lot for sharing this wonderful work.

Yes clouds will do that to you will they not? Nice for you to test out my new camera and filter I just got yesterday. Saturation worked well. I love it...now I can hardly wait till it clouds up again. That is a first.

Hello Pablo,
Magnificent sky capture.Well caught,framed and composed.I liked visual impact a lot.Have a great day!

Hi Pablo,
Simplicity is sometimes best, and you proved it here. The clean composition with just two color tones is very attractive. The dark blue sky from the CP gives the photo a bit of a ominous feel. Excellent work on the exposure, getting loads of details in the cloud.

Hello Pablo,
Simple but yet so very pretty, something beautiful about big old fluffy clouds and bright blue sky...makes me smile! TFS

I've played with this type of shot before. I like it a lot. But I like the tight perspective you've given us, it really emphasizes the wonderful shapes, curves, and brightness variation.

Genial formación de nubes. Intensa y espectacular imagen Pablo.

Hello Pablo

The colours are deep and well saturated. The clouds are very well focused with very good sharpness. The lighting and exposure are well handled.I like the vertical composition giving the feeling of height.TFS

Hello Pablo,
shooting clouds I always found some problems on focusing. You seem to have no problems, and captured very well the light and the shade.

Great notes re: 'alto & strato'. Really means vertical and horizontal.
How observant. Great capture.
Personally I find myself in a pickle when registering "white"; you have "mastered" this art.
Someday I'll learn too.

Hello Pablo!
I see you've graduated in "claudology";-)) I like the rule you've sited about Altocumulae and Stratocumulae.

Of course, your wide dynamic range is unsurpassable - here, where many would have a white "screen" you have so many shades and forms...

Greetings and best wishes!

Hi Pablo, I love the texture on this. It's almost inviting me to jump in there and play with curves, but I won't. It isn't needed. Great colour too. Did you shoot this from a plane, or just high ground?

Thanks, John

selam pablo, excellent shot from you again and very good composition of sky nice pov and bg with splendid colours.

hello Pablo,
I'm a great amateur of clouds and just love your so subtle coloured picture. Very fine palette of blues. Also the shapes are very interesting. I just wonder where you stood to take this picture.
Thanks and best regards

Hi Pablo,

Hi Pablo,
The tonal range is excellent here. light to dark shows wonderful textures and detail in the clouds. Sometimes the simple compositions are the best. It is here.

Hi Pablo

Simple but really beautiful. The framing of this shot is perfect. The clouds look so impressive. Excellent notes as well.

Have a lovely weekend

Bonsoir Pablo,
Excellent composition with beautiful detail of the cloud, great effect and colors ..well done..

Hi Pablo, This may be the simplest image you have ever posted in TrekNature, but what an image, Wow so dramatic really gives you the sense of an impending storm ? Something we are desperate for in south east Queensland we have had no rain for such a long time now. Really nice work Cheers Rick :)

Super three-dimensional cloud shapes and fantastic colours and contrasts in this great picture, Pablo. I thought I had done a good job of clouds myself from the window of a plane last month, but this image is simply extraordinary.
Thanks for sharing it and best regards.

This ia a nice image of these thick billowy clouds. I think the polarizing effect is a bit too strong. Sometimes it is better to rotate the polarizing filter a bit off of maximum effect.

Hi dear Pablo;great color balance, super clouds composition....

I love clouds. I used to take and throw away all my cloud pictures, people made fun of me. Now I enjoy them. I finally decided there are dumb people, uninterested people, jealous people, thiefs (they insult my stuff, then steal it), and all kinds.People who love nature, love beauty, love life probably love clouds! Very pretty, good info. I am starting to learn about them. Otherwise on a cloudy day, eveyrone predicts rain, and it never comes...... "it never rains in Southern Califonia".

Hi Pablo,
I love watching clouds and taking images of them. It is a nice cluster you have captured in your image. The bluish tinge looks superb. It is truly a lovely composition and I believe we should share more images of them. Simple but superb.

a fantastic shot Pablo,
the clouds are fantastic and it looks that there iks depth in the shot, good photojob I like it.

A very simple picture with a very depth structure of the clouds.
Nice composition, very well done.

The most simple image You ever posted, as You said... But a very fine one! Nice textures of the clouds, excellent colours... Minimalistic, yet professionally done photo. Congrats and TFS. Regards from Hungary, László

pola clouds are fun!!

hello Pablo

clouds can be really stunning , and this is the case+

strong picture with strong colours

Hello Pablo,
It seems that I missed this one :) The sky is not that easy to expose and I like those tones of colors and contrast a lot. Exposure is perfect and so are details and composition. It is always interesting to look at good skies pictures :) Thanks!

Hallo Pablo
What a sensational view of these billowing clouds. A photographic moment seen and the opportunity well taken. A well exposed cloud formation. Seeing them develop is fascinating scenery, wondering what will come out in the end, rain thunder or shine. A cloud formation well focused, composed and presented. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoy your day.

Hello Pablo. The complexity of the cloud is undeniable. You'll never get the same shape and texture twice. Beautiful saturation and the light catching on top of the cumulus is just brilliant. The color of the sky adds contrast to the shot. Nice tall frame presentation and well done. Jusni
