[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi all!

This evening I need to look at and to present a picture that brings light into my mood. I need something definitely positive and beautiful. A picture I can look at and forget for a while my sorrows and thoughts. I imagine that some may think why this picture and not a bright sky or beautifully colored flowers or autumnal leaves in the sun.

For me this atmosphere with the sun reflecting on the evening clouds and the summit of the mountain shining in the fresh snow is redemptive and peaceful, a hymn to the beauty and authenticity.

I can't watch the news on TV this evening, can't read about what happened in our world, I need some tendernesses and the possibility to escape and fly away on soft cotton wool clouds...

If only one can understand me, the posting would be a success...

Kind regards

N.B.: The picture was taken on the famous Sognefjellroad on the way to Lom, just before we had to flee from a snowstorm.

RAW, converted into TIFF, no special postprocessing except the usual level correction, color balance and sharpness.

As a long time lover of Norway and the country (I x-country ski and biathlon...) I can appreciate the picture, it is a beautiful place...rollon the snow and send some winter shots

This picture does not look peaceful for me.
But it's refreshing. Some minutes ago I was sitting with my pet. He is ill and I know that we can't do nothing for him, only try to to maintain him when everything is bad. He is very small and weak animal, but he is strong and he's fighting himself. And I look at your picture and understand that we must fight too - through difficulties and stormy weather...

Hello Markus,

I think we all perceive photographs differently and quite often our state of mind affects what we like, or our interpretation of it! For me , this shot is lonely, dramatic, challenging but still beautiful! Thank you for making us 'think'!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Markus,
very nice place... I just love winter, snow and mountains so, I think this is wonderful.
I really like the POV, DOV and the light over the grey clouds and over that mountain.
good work!

Hi Markus

An interesting note and shot - whilst I can see your point - for me the light on the hill represents hope/beauty etc - I would want to get the hell out of there as it looks too much like our northern hills and mountainsin weather I would not want to be caught in :)

Bonjour Markus,
Le soleil a réveillé ce paysage presque lunaire en lui donnant cette force et en soulignant en même temps sa finesse. J'aime quand une image suggère des tensions, raconte une histoire. Image très subtile, comme tu sais si bien les faire.

Beautiful. I like the way the mountain in the background seems to be shining out of the shadows. A symbol of hope. Well done!

Hi Markus,
Yes, I can understand you and this photo does bring the needed relief from the troubled world. Although good things can be found when you look for it.
The feel to this photo is wonderful. The way the sun has illuminated the summit and cloud is very beautiful. It really want you to move toward the lighted area and stand in the sunlight.

Normally I like to see a photo from upclose, to see all the details. But while I was writing this critique, I stepped away from my desk and then saw the photo from a much better perspective. The illuminated mountain looks even more beautiful. Ofcouse, seeing it for a close distance does show some amazing texture in the rock and snow.

A very beautiful and tranquil photo.

Hi Markus,
a stark, bleak and yet hauntingly beautiful vista, the similarity bewteen this place and the uplands of my country is quite striking. It illustrates very well how the two countries share their past physically and culturally too.
I would happily wander this area until i could walk no further..i love both the light and dark side of this photo.
Thanks for sharing it..

There something very warm feeling about seeing the sun through the low clouds and fog. It is a happy picture among all of the other weather woes. Very nice mountainscape image Markus....shows your feeling a little better eh?

I really like the way the the light is hitting the mountain in the mg. I think you could bring this out a bit more, maybe by cropping out some of the bottom and framing it in white. You might play around and see if there's a crop you like better.

Bonjour Markus,

Une belle image de ces montagnes de Norvège, la photo a une bonne composition, profondeur de champs et de jolies couleurs. Bonne journée.

Hello Markus,
The amazing light is well recorded!
Sometimes you experience situations like this in the mountains, when one summit is hit by sunrays while the rest of the landscape is in the shades and the effect is wonderful...
The thin layer of fresh snow adds to the atmosphere!
