I have not been posting here for a while but we have been doing a lot of travelling these last months and the Treknature folder in my computer is piling up... ;o) So i decided I have to get back to this great place to see all your beautiful photos

This is from our last trip to Runde on the Norwegian Atlantic coast. This little island is famous in Scandinavia for the huge colonies of seabirds. It has been a dream for me for many years to go there. But the last two years has been disastrous for the puffins there. This year however we decided very quickly to go there and see for ourselves.

The problem during these last two years was apparently the lack of food for the chicks. This year it seemed OK and we saw the adults return all the time with fish.

I realize that puffins are a frequent objects on TN... but I just cant resist to start with this portrait as I like the light that much.... and I think the eyes of this bird is totally amazing!

Hello Bengt,

What a lovely macro shot of the bird! The features of the head are so well shown, especially the eyes and the beak are well focused. In addition, sharpness is excellent along with nice POV and great DOF.
I like the great harmony of colors in this bird. The blurred BG is really nice.

Thanks for sharing.

Hello Bengt,
Good to see you back after a long time. Fantastic portrait in excellent sharp details and splendid clear colours. The eyes are amazing. Very beautiful composition, POV, DOF and OOF BG.

what a wonderful portrait of the pretty puffin! :-) the light shining on and "through" the colorful beak is fantastic as well
as the details and the sharpness. looking forward to more photos of my favorite bird & best wishes, thor.

Hi Bengt,
What a wonderful photo of this lovely Puffin. The light is especially beautiful and gave it a wonderful glow of the top of the head. It also created a wonderful BG. As you wrote yourself, the eye is totally amazing. Technically the photo is outstanding, with great details, DOF and color.

Hi Bengt,

What a wonderful surprise to find a post from you!! Welcome back. I can never pass on a picture of a Puffin and this close-up is magnificent. The eye is marvelous and the beak looks like a neon light. Excellent blacks and whites, fine details and just a delightful sight. I hope you will be sharing more from your travels.

Hello Bengt
The soft light brings out the nice colours of this unique looking Puffin. An amazing close up portrait, excellent DOF, detail and composition. I never get tired of seeing a Puffin on TN. Keep up the great work.

Excellent shot! I would have liked a little more light on the eyes and the face, but the backlit colourful beak holds the centre-stage. Sharply focussed and good shallow dof. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bengt
great portrait the big point being the colors of the bill with unusual but perfect frontlight

Hello Bengt
A great profil view of this lovely bird, you have captured it with wonderful sharpness and superb colors, shots of Puffins are perhaps often posted on TN but always welcome especially when they are so beautiful as yours

Hello Bengt,
The lighting in this close capture of a Puffin is superb! The sharpness and composition are excellent too but for me the great atrraction of this image is the way the light shines though the bill and makes it glow red against a neutral dark BG
A real beauty!
Thanks and best regards,

HI Bengt,
an amazing portrait of this colourful puffin.. The eye is so pretty and the beak glows wonderfully.
A very fine image with the feather could be seen in great details.
The blurry background also gives a strong contrast.
Excellent composition.
