[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Time for another photo from my photography vacation on the Lofoten. The landlady of the rorbuer I was staying told me that I needed to see the high peak topped with the most pristine icing. I drove by the mountain at day time and looked for a spot to capture it from. After dinner I returned to the spot waiting for the light to cast it last rays on the peak. It was a bit of a wait and the strong cold wind was making it a rather long wait. Eventually the light became good and even a little cloud started to form over the Austnesfjorden. It allowed me to balance the composition.

It was a bit of a struggle to keep the exposure correct as the clear white peak became a very bright spot compared with the shadowed landscape in front of me. I allowed for a slight over exposure so to not get a completely blackened landscape. The strong wind was also a struggle as the shutter speeds were getting slower and I was afraid that it would also move the camera during an exposure. Luckily I brought along a bungee cord and attached that to my bag and tripod.

Hallo Niek,

je hebt echt een mooie reis gemaakt door Noorwegen.
Heb diverse mooie foto's gezien.
Dit is niet de mooieste van je reis maar wel gewoon mooi.
Goed van scherpte en compositie.

Gert

Hello Niek,
What a wonderful landscape and as always you have captured it superbly. Very difficult exposure well executed, thanks for the tip about weighting the tripod with the camera bag.
Rick

Hallo Nick
Absolutely viewing pleasure! So beautiful, I am actually a bit jealous, but not in an ugly way. The colours in this scene is spectacular. This is indeed one of my favourites in your portfolio. Congratulations on excellent camera work. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
Anna

It is a beautiful photograph with superb depth and fine color gamut Niek! I think however, that the dark foreground can reveal a wonderful detail if some corrections are done. Please visit my workshop and compare with your version! Hope you like the balance there!

Hi Niek,

Wow what a splendid landscape you have here my fiend, well first i must say is the dark but detailed foreground works for me, and in so saying that it doe's not compete with the focal point being the lake to the mountains and the interesting Sky, nevertheless both of you (workshop included) have missed the un-level horizon line Hmmmm, however Niek a powerful image and worth its accolade,
Best regards,

Pauly.

Hi Niek, the best moment whit this magic light and the best point of view to create this neverending perspective.I like the perfect camera settings and the beautiful view too. Thanks for share, have a nice Sunday,Luciano.

A well controlled picture of this pristine and awesome area in Norway, Niek, and that too under trying conditions.
The white exposure on the mountains is just right and the immediate landmass creates a lovely contrast with the placid and glassy waters of the fjord.
Thanks and regards.
Ram
