I want to present you today a very nice animal. Its name is Tetrodontophora bielanensis (the most probably - I'm not a specialist) and it belongs to springtails - Collembola.

Collembola together with Diplura ("two-pronged bristletails") and Protura belongs to Entognatha. They are ametabolous and apterous (they don't have wings) animals that are usually less than 6mm long.
Collembola live in humid places in bedding of the forests and they are primarily detritivores. They can occur in masses and also I've observed some springtails on the snow.

Tetrodontophora bielanensis is the biggest species of springtails that occurs in Poland (it grow from 6-9mm in lenght). This green needle is the needle of European spruce (Picea abies) so you can think about the size of the animal. The species can be found in Central European mountains (Alps, Carpathians).

The picture was taken in the forest without any additional lenses so I had some problems with the focus and that's the result. Picture was cropped, I also changed levels and sharpen the image.

I hope you like it

Calkiem przyzwoite makro Ci wyszlo, mocno kadrowalas zdjecie?

Hello Ania,

Very nice picture of this collembola. Good sharpness. Nice natural colours. I am still trying to have a good picture of the collembolas I have in my flower pot, but they are white, very small and do not appreciate the light that much.

Ciao Ania,

I have never seen on of these. Very interesting Ania! It almost seems as if this one is trying to use a pen to write...haha.
Nice colours and sharp focus.
Enjoy your week

Hi Ania
Ivan

I have not seen anything similar. However, quality of its reproduction is stunning. You really managed to reflect its texture and all other charming details. Ultimate details, wonderful rich colours, superb DOF. Bravo and all my compliments.
