Today I'm "working" as a camerawoman in my former primary school [ my mother is a principal there and my father is a math teacher, so I do the "work" for free ;-) ].
Anyway, today is the last day of school year and children will now have a two months of vacations.
So we had a celebration with wishes, flowers, diplomas ... and somebody has to record all this ;-)
Fortunatelly it wasn't a hard job. Now I have an opportunity to use the internet ;-)

So this is a photo I'm very happy of. Whole spring I tried to find a crab spider with prey. I often searched all the flowers checking if there is a patient hunter hiden inside, but I had no luck.
Last weak I decided to take some photos of insects in flight [one of them you could see here - THANKS a lot for such kind critiques :-) ]
Of course when I wasn't looking for spiders anymore I found plenty of them hiding everywhere. So once more the old truth happened to be correct - when you can't find something just stop looking for it and you will find it in the most surprising way ;-)

So now I have about ten quite good photos with different species of crab spiders and this is one of these.
The spider wasn't sitting on flowering plant, but on some green shrub quite close to ground. His prey is probably female scorpion fly.

I don't know the name of the genus and I don't even know if this is really a crab spider. There wasn't any web, so the spider is rather active hunter, but it looks a bit different from other crab spiders I found.
So, as always, any suggestions about the ID will be welcome ;-)

At last Monika ;-) Great details on spider, POV and colours. DOF is slightly too shallow for me - prey isn't sharp at all but I know - moment is great and spiders are very fast and impatient models ;-) Overall - great post.

Fantastic shot of this primordial scene. The prey looks a lot bigger than the predator. Very sharp details and good light on the spider. Excellent composition. Well done and TFS. : )

Hello Monika, great capture! Always good to see spiders with their prey. This spider belongs to the family Thomisidae and probably of the gensu Philodromus (sometimes given their own family of Philodromidae). Very good details and composition, well done.

Monika, congratulations on capturing this very nice moment; after all, that's how life goes on.

Excellent colors and pov. Well spotted, well done.

Very dramatic moment, Monika! The clarity here is striking, and everything just works. Very exciting!

It is a very captivating photo. :) The composition and colors wors well. Great details and a superb moment caught. Very well done, Monika.

Do you have some technical data of the capture? The F-stop, shutterspeed and ISO setting would help me to learn and base my critique upon. Not that its needed here though, no nits. :)

Very interesting POV and nice background. You have managed the apurture well to blur out the background. Great closeup! But I think u cud have tried a different angle to show the victim little more. Anyways, excellent work.
