[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yesterday Monika posted this beautifull moth, so today is my turn ;-) It was captured during our macro-spot with my friend Kaszek, on nearby meadow. We founded two or three of this kind, rather not very shy [it was about 19:00 and sun was low]. In BG you can see meadow itself. It is really big, placed between Lodz and Konstantynow Lodzki, full of different plants [more then 100 species as Markus wrote] and insects. Many kinds of birds and small mammals live here, too.

Few words about today's moth - this is probably Adscita statices. They live on grasslands, larvae feed on Rumex acetosa and Rumex acetosella, adults eat nectar from Persicaria bistorta, Trifolium pratense, Trifolium medium, Ranunculus repens and Cirsium palustre. We founded our moths on different plant but maybe it was good for it as shelter for a night. In English it is called Forester. Wingspan 26-29mm. Adults are bronzy green with an iridescent sheen and fly during the day in sunshine; males and females are similar. Flight Period: Late April to the end of June.

Very nice reflections of light on the back of this moth. It is quite hairy :-) Good contrast with the flower. Excellent perspective and composition. Well done!

Hi Greg,

I like this picture a lot because of the razorsharp details and the superb colors. Very good POV, but maybe a little too centered. The note is very interesting. Well done & TFS!

Regards,
Pieter

Hello Greg

This guy looks like he is coated in green glitter. Amazing colour and texture. The feelers look like rope fringing. Awesome looking moth. The low POV is great as the light is hitting it perfectly allowing good detail. Excellent work. Thanks.

Very good indeed!
Perfect details and sharpness!
It's a Zygaenidae.
The species is a Adscita statices (Linnaeus, 1758) a very beautiful moth!
5* photo and favourite!

Hello Greg! Excellent details, colors and use of ambient light..Very well composed with a great BG and POV. Fill flash would've brought out a bit more detail on the shadow side but you knew that :-) Very good work!

Hi Greg very nice! I like the irredescence of the wings. The composition is very good and the details are very nicely in focus. There seems to be an antennae sticking out the side, I wonder what it belongs to?

PS My books say the flight season is May to Augsust, which makes sense.
