[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Lately butterflies became the main subjects of my photos. First of all there is plenty of them everywhere and they are no doubt very beautiful creatures. When I see such beauty I just have to take a shot.

On the photo you can see a Polyommatus daphnis. I "discovered" it a few days ago on an oats field. "Discovered" because I've never knew such beauty live in my region and that was the first time I saw it.

Polyommatus daphnis (Meleager's Blue) is quite special species from Lycaenidae family.
Why?
As far as I know in this family almost always males are more beautiful then females. They have beautiful vivid colours on their wings while females are often dark and less interesting.

In this case the female is a real beauty - you can see her on my photo.

She is easily recognised by the beautiful scalloped edge of the hindwing, as well as by a very characteristic overall appearance - dark wings with a kind of blue shadow on them.

The male is bright blue all over the uppersides and has notably less deep scalloping therefore it looks far more like a Common Blue.

As I found out they like limestone, sunny slopes, so I have absolutely no idea what they are doing in my region (totally flat wet meadows, fields and forests though on the lime_soil)

The species can be found across much of central eastern and south eastern Europe but it seems to be very local and uncommon. In western Europe it flies in Italy, Spain, France and Switzerland.
They aren't rather very common and in some regions of Poland this species is under strict protection.

The photo have been taken in sunny evening after quite cold, rainy day. During the day butterflies couldn't fly, so when the weather changed they started to climb plants and bask in the sunshine.
I found this fellow sitting on the oats. He was so lazy that didn't even tried to fly away, so I have some good shots.
Unfortunetelly the light conditions weren't perfect and therefore the photos have nice mood but the details on the b'flies aren't very well visible. Anyway, I hope you like it.

Great note Monika and also great photo. This butterfly is similiar in shape to Common Blue, even central parts of its body are blue ;-) Nice pose and POV but first of all beautifull patterns on its wings and delicate colours. Not a spider but also good catch ;-)
