[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Melitaea Diamina

This is one of the more distinctive of the smaller Fritillaries. Its upperside hindwing is extremely heavily marked, only a few small spots of orange ground colour remain forming ghostly rows. The underside post discal spots is distinctive too, small black spots being present inside the arched black lunules. It flies from low levels to high mountain meadows where it is usually common when encountered. In flight it usually looks dark which will alert the lepster to its presence.

Hello Marx,
Fantastic sharp detailed macro of this butterfly in splendid bright colours. Taken from an ideal POV in an attractive composition. Nice blurred background.
Regards,
Peter

Hi Marx. That's a perfectly flat side profile. The patterns and colours are fantastic. A slightly wider DOC would have put the second antenna into focus too. The focus is perfect and so is the framing. The burnt orange colour is truly remarkable. Just a beautiful shot Marx. Great to see. TFS Trevor

Excellent picture of this beautiful Fritillary, Marx.
Lovely composition.
