Hallo Monika, a nice scene which you captured well. On the segments, orange-brown spiracles and setae ('hairs') can be seen. It will be difficult to identify the species of this Geometride. Judged from the pattern of setae on the body and on the head capsule, this caterpillar represents the first or second larval stage. In most cases, these 'early' early stages look quite different compared to the final instar larvae. The problem is that you will not find pictures of the first developmental stages in text-books.
The picture, however, is nice even without identification.

Yes, I have seen them moving around like that, Monika, as if measuring the path with the length of their own bodies.
