Some time ago I've posted picture of the male for this species. Now it's time to present the female ;-)

It looks quite different than a male but it's really the same species. The males flies usualy during a day, fat and lazy females fly in the evening and night. It's not hard to attracy them to the light.

Very nice larvae feeds on Quercus, Rubus, Calluna plants. In June you can find the cocoons - but please don't touch them! The cocoon material could be dangerous for human body.

Excelente captura de esta bella polilla.
Lo más llamativo es el contraste del color del insecto con su entorno, realzada por la nitidez y DOF alcanzados.
Buen POV y encuadre.
Hermosa presentación.
Saludos... Ricardo

Excellent capture of this beautiful moth.
The most attractive thing is the contrast of the color of the insect with your environment, enhanced by the clarity and DOF reached.
Good POV and framing.
Beautiful presentation.
Greetings... Ricardo

Hi Chris,
Very good capture of the Oak Eggar and an excellent complement to the male you published some time ago! Colours, pattern and details are nicely rendered - and the furry "coat" looks so real as if one could stretch out the hand and pat her on the head. Thank you very much for the L. quercus-pictures,

Hello Chris,
Very pretty moth, hairy but delicate. Sharply focus with details clearly seen. Nice composition and pov. Very well done and TFS.

Hi Chris
Nice gallery you have!
I have visited it an I am commenting this one, but the opinion is general - good pov and technically very well done the images you post here.
