[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A pretty moth, very rare in Portugal.
The photo was tacked at night, around 22:50, using the flash, at Sierra da Estrela, the highest mountain in Portugal.
Known as Blotched Emerald in english.
It was attracted by the fluorescent light on the trap.
The males are easily attracted to light, sometimes in great numbers. Females are rarely seen in moths traps.
Too active and very difficult to take a photo.
There are more green geometers, but this is the only one showing creamish blotches near the hind edge of both wings.
Because of the bright colours this species is sometimes wrongly identified as a butterfly. In old specimens the green colour is occasionally faded into pink or white.
This specie is extremely difficult to discover hiding among the leaves of trees, for it looks like an infested leaf very much.
It is a rather small species, reaching a wingspan of some 29 to 33 mm only.

Ola Paulo!
Lovely capture. I've never seen this kind of green moth. Classic composition works very well, brown BG is also suitable for this shot. Good sharpness, details and very interesting note.

Hi Paulo, nice image. I think it's great that you can trap/locate all these and it must be difficult gettign the shots with artificial light. I wonder if you are using a noise reduction filter as the details look a little smoothed out.

Nice job.

Hola Paulo.
Bonita foto,buena composicion y detalles,buenos contrastes y color.

Another wonderful moth species from you,Paulo.BG,details are amazing.I haven't seen a green moth yet:)

A beautiful light emerald color Paulo. Well done under night-time conditions with good use of flash. Thank You!

Moths are not my favourite subjects, at least the ones we have in our zone, always pale and boring. But with your gallery I noticed I must have a closer look, there are really beautiful ones (alhough this one is rare)
Looks as if it was made of wax, it is a strange texture... Thanks for awaking my interest on this subjects.
