[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A very common moth in Portugal.

We can see it everywhere, but it’s too small and very difficult to photograph.

I have great difficulties to get this picture. I know its soft on focus, but besides its size it doesn't allow us to get too close of it.

My camera only allows me to get macro shots at 7 cm. This moth as less them 0.5 cm, so you can see how difficult it was to get this shot.

It belongs to the Pyralidae family.

We haven’t much information about it in spite its very common.

They where found for the first time by Pierce & Metcalfe in 1938.

Its a specie that exists only in Portugal and Spain.

The other countries have similar species like Chrysocrambus craterellus (Scopoli, 1763) and Chrysocrambus linetellus (Fabricius, 1781). They are very similar but not the same specie.

They very small size, less the 0.5 cm.

Their caterpillars feed on low plants, like grasses.

Not easy to have all in focus, but your shot is good!
We find it also in france (Paris)

This moth is funny on the back under the branch. She has a nice shape and colors. Its eye seems to look at me ;-) The blurred background works well. Congratulation Paulo and TFS.

Ola Paulo!
Very beautiful picture.Parabens.
Best wishes and regards,

Hi Paulo, you did a good job photographing this tiny moth, especially considering the limitations of your camera. The moth has a very interesting face. I did a quick workshop on it to see if I could bring out more color and sharpness. I hope you find it helpful. TFS!

Personal assessment of the photo: very good.
Strong visual impact.
Aptness of the photo for the site: excellent.
Personal assessment of the note: complete.
Thank you Paulo Henrique.

Hi Paulo, the head and eye look sharp so I think the OOF is more down to the very shallow DOF because of the low light levels judging from the speed and F stop.
I like the POV with it underneath the branch. TFS yours Robert

Paulo, this is an excellent Picture. Great colours, sharpness excellent, a very nice composite. Well done. TFS. Eu falto fotos novas.

It looks as an elephant with the elongated and thick mouthparts. Your pictures make a very good atlas of Portugese butterflies and moths. Greetings, Paulo! Michal

Hi Paulo,
It a nice close-up with a good composition.
I agree with Rob about the DOF, the head is sharp and the F2.8 is not enough to get the whole insect in focus.
Well done.

Eu sei o dificil que son de fotografiar istas criaturas, mais o fixeches moi bem. Son moi cativas, e o flash reflaxa moito nelas. Paulo, gostariame que me axudases a identificar alguhas polillas galegas que tehno. Si me mandas unha mensaxe, terei o teu email, e as mando. Saludos, meu amigo. Ainda me lembro da tua invitacion, e tehno pendente unha viaxe a Extramadura :D

Not an easy subject because of the size, like the details and colours, very well done.

Good detail seen in this interesting moth Paulo. I also like the POV hanging from underneath the twig. Perhaps a tiny bit OE.
Well done & Merry Christmas!

Olá, Paulo Henrique. Bela captura deste inseto.

Gosto da composição e do ângulo. Belo fundo também.

Talvez eu tentasse acrescentar um pouco mais de nitidez, mas isso é somente uma opinião.

Hello Paulo,
This is a very good capture.
Excellent composition and POV,a clear and perfect background.
These moths are very tiny and you have some great detail here, especially the eyes.
Very well done.

The photo is nice. But I agree with momos that depth of the backgraund of the picture is to flat.

Hi Paulo,

very good shot, consider to yor equipment.. ;o) Like the DOf and composition. Regards, Radim.

Hi Paulo
This is a great capture of such a small little moth. The composition is good with the diagonal lines and the upside down shot.
Colours are nice and seems very natural. DOF & BG is excellent. Exposure was well controlled.
Great work and TFS.

Very pretty shot, Paulo.
Soft and tender, same as the tiny moth.
Details are good for the very short distance.
Colours and composition are delightful.
Thanks, and best regards,

Hi Paulo, a good catch. Everything well done, but I suggest you use a bigger f/stop for macros. It just gives that better DOF. I think that is the reason for the focus being a little bit soft. Otherwise well done!!

I love that background!excellent capture, beautiful colour and comp.
Well taken..

Hi Paulo,
great shot, nice light and compo, bravo!
TFS and best wishes,

WOW! What a good, excellent macro with full of details.
TFS, Paulo.

Hola Paulo,
Interesante vista de esta pequeña polilla, nunca vi a una de esta familia con tanto aumento; buenos detalles en especial la zona de la cabeza. Buena composición
Un abrazo

Very difficult indeed to shoot a small object. A great photo and TFS.
